Default [Working On] One-Theme Phpbb3

Hello, I decided I wanted to give my site and forums a unified look, so I have begun development on a one-theme phpbb3 (which Lee agreed let me release to licensed one-theme owners). I'm going to use this post to track my development, and to allow people to make suggestions while I'm in the process.

As you can see, so far I've only gotten the header to work (except the breadcrumb navigation that will take the place of the category menu, I need to edit the CSS for that).

If you have any suggestions about design, might I suggest making a mock up of it in photoshop/gimp so I know what you're talking about.

I also have been thinking about making the posts look similar to the comments area on the actual one-theme theme.

Official Demo: Click Here (username: demo/pass: demo12)

Fixed Breadcrumb. Visible in the demo (you can attempt to click one of the forums, and then the breadcrumb becomes visible)

Updates Since Posting:
  • Added a footer, changed footer text to say "Powered by phpbb, enhanced by onetheme & wiflba". Check the DEMO.
  • Forgot to add an administrator panel link. Added, looks like the footer image above.
  • Changed the menu links to include a link to the members and advanced search.
  • Changed logo alt tag from {L_INDEX} to {SITENAME} (so it says the name of your forum instead of 'board index')
  • Cleaned out css (working only with blue atm), got filsize of it down to 12kb (from 26kb), fixed shadow underneath the breadcrumb menu

Thanks, I'm also looking forward to seeing the outcome, I have no ideas toward designing the rest right now

Added a user toolbar near the top to display log in, log out, user control panel, and pm statuses. I just need to add and pretty up a login form and registration link for the guest version.

I've also added a demo account (details in the first post) to the forum to test the logged in version of the user toolbar

Updates Since Posting:
  • Added a hover effect to the bar
  • Using arrow icon images for breadcrumb now, IE doesn't accept the character I used
  • Finished up user toolbar for now, " or register" will disappear if registrations are disabled.
  • Manually shrunk the X icon to give the icon a cleaner look compared to browser resizing
  • Removed e-mail icon by private messages (for use as the e-mail topic icon)
  • Changed the one-theme content div name from content to content-main to prevent conflict with current phpbb3 html and css

Finally fixed up the css for the time and topic options that are displayed below the user control bar, and added the moderator control panel link in the userbar.

This screenshot was taken in IE, since Opera and FF display it with the main content over the topic/thread options. The problem should clear itself up once I add the necessary css for the rest of the forum display.

To do:
  • Code and design the forum list
  • Add an error box reminding an admin that they are testing out someone else's permissions, and provide a link to return their permissions back to normal
  • Code and design the index footer stats (e.g. Users Online section, Total posts, birthdays, etc.)
  • Begin designing custom "New topic/post/locked/etc" buttons

Added rounded corners to the userbar, copied the prosilver forumlist css, so I'm making modifications off of that. Obviously there's some css issues I have to iron out, but it'll get done.

Breaktime, I'm kinda new to css and webdesign, so I need my breaks

Okay, I think I'm ready to get back to work on it, I've also created a twitter account for the project.

Default Progress report

Hi,

It seems you have slowed down on development of the forum. I hoped that you would finished soon as this would be a real blessing to get it working well and integrated into one-theme.

I'm sure a lot of people would use it.

If help is needed, then I'm willing to help.

With school going on, I don't know if I'll be able to work on this (considering my code is somewhat messy, so most of the forum template will require some form of recoding).

If you want to continue the project, please pm me so I can send you the files.

I do, however, plan to continue developement on the super search plugin thing (unrelated to this), since I only need to learn some basic ajax, add some extra functions, and learn how to create an admin settings panel.

Default Attention mc2w

Hi mc2w,

I would love to help out but as from September, access to internet has somewhat slowed down. I won't be able to do any major things so I won't be able to help.

I'm glad you have opted to continue with development of your plugin, I'm still busy trying to figure out what plugin I can do. There are so many ideas floating around in my head that I have to concentrate on one and go for it.

I see you are an administrator now on the forum, congrats. You deserve it as you have helped out so many of us users here.

Cheers

Please finish this template for phpbb3.
This would be really nice to go along with the fantastic one theme.

I will write to Santa Clause and wish me this for Christmas.

As much as I'd like to, I have other things going on right now, like school

If I get time, I'll start up development again.

Ok, to bad i must say sens this would fit nice with this theme.

But it not this something that could lift one theme even more if you would make templates for vbulletin and phpbb3 and sell them with one theme.

I think this could be something good for both this site and for one theme users overall.

At least you admins on this site could think of it.

Wordpress and phpbb is two of the worlds most used components for webmasters and it would be really nice to see them together.

I hope for the best.

Granit,

You mean Wordpress + PhpBB right??? I'm about to start a News Site and a Discussion Forum, so I need to merge them into one site. That is why I'm in need of this. What theme would you suggest for my kind of need?
